'Movies in the Park' Returns This September

Grand Island, Neb. — The City of Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to enjoy a series of free outdoor movie nights during its annual Movies in the Park series this September.

Families, friends and neighbors are encouraged to gather for an evening of entertainment under the stars each Friday throughout the month, weather permitting. All movies will be shown in the open field west of Kids Kingdom at Stolley Park, with showings beginning at dusk.

The 2025 movie lineup features some childhood classics, but also a newer-run feel as well:

  *   Friday, September 5 – The Garfield Movie
  *   Friday, September 12 – Little Giants
  *   Friday, September 19 – A Minecraft Movie
  *   Friday, September 26 – The Goonies

Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs, bug spray, snacks, drinks and warm clothing for cooler evenings. Movies in the Park offers a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for all ages and is a great way to enjoy one of Grand Island’s favorite fall traditions.
