“The Power of Place” Featured at Grand Island Public Library

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library is pleased to announce Chris Hochstetler and Jacki (Proctor) Hochstetler are the March featured artists in the library’s Art Alcove.

"The Power of Place" will be on display until April 4, showcasing watercolor, alcohol ink and pastel works inspired by the landscapes and history of the Loup and Platte River Valleys. Chris Hochstetler is a self-taught artist known for his expressive watercolor and oil paintings, particularly his anthropomorphic birds. His work in this exhibit explores the power of place through creative reflection, with some pieces painted on handmade paper. His art is held in private collections nationwide and has been exhibited throughout Nebraska.

Jacki Hochstetler is a visual artist and educator who explores various media, currently focusing on alcohol ink and pastels. With deep family roots in central Nebraska, her work reflects a connection to the land and its history, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of the prairie and ancestral poetry.

Together, Chris and Jacki founded Libelle’s Hope, a creative retreat center near Dannebrog, Neb. dedicated to reconnecting people with nature through art and reflection. Their exhibit invites viewers to enjoy a sense of belonging and connection to the landscape. A special artist reception will be held on Sunday, March 23 from 2-4 p.m., providing an opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about their creative process.
