"You Are More Than Your Screen" Workshop Coming to GIPL

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library will be hosting a free family workshop titled “You Are More Than Your Screen.”

The event, which is on Sunday, June 1 at 3 p.m., is designed to help families better understand the impact of screen use on brain development and emotional health. Presented in partnership with ScreenStrong ambassadors Elijah and Sarah Landell, the workshop will explore key questions such as why screens are so addictive and how you can reduce screentime without missing out.

The program is especially suited for families with children in grades 4–8, but attendees of all ages are welcome. Light snacks will be provided.

ScreenStrong is a national nonprofit organization that empowers families to prevent screen addiction and counter the effects of problematic screen use, including overexposure to social media, video games and pornography. Rather than promoting a screen-free lifestyle, ScreenStrong advocates for replacing harmful screen habits with healthy alternatives that build life skills, resilience, and family bonds. You can learn more at both www.screenstrong.org and www.gilibrary.org.

The Grand Island Public Library proudly serves residents of both the City of Grand Island and Hall County. Anyone who resides in or owns property within Hall County is eligible for a free library card. You can also stay connected with the Library through Facebook, Instagram or the Grand Island Public Library mobile app.

For more information about the Library’s summer programming, contact Youth & Family Services Librarian Laura Fentress at [email protected] or by calling (308) 385-5333.
