Aurora BB earns sweep on rivalry weekend


The Aurora basketball teams followed up a sweep of York Friday with a pair of wins at Northwest on Saturday. 

In the girls game, Aurora earned a 52-48 win. The contest saw nine lead changes and seven ties. Evelyn Kraus hit a three pointer as part of a 7-0 run in the fourth to give the Huskies the lead for good. Hailey Hoff, Vivi Fahrnbruch, and Kendal Wineteer combined to go 5-6 from the line in the final couple of minutes to help ice the win. 

Kraus finished with a season high 18. Hoff hit double figures for the first time this season with 10.
Emersyn Graves scored 16 of her game high 20 in the second half for Northwest. Jolie O'Hara added 12.

The boys game was a defensive battle with Aurora earning a 49-42 win. The Huskies scored the first seven. Northwest tied it with the next seven. However, Aurora never trailed. Leading 14-13, the Huskies scored the final eight points of the half. Aurora led by as many as 13 in the fourth. The Vikings clawed to within five in the final minute. 

Ryan Staehr and Brooks Handrup each had 14 for Aurora. Jaden Brant led Northwest with 14. The Vikings were held to a season low, 20 points below their average.
