Aurora Downs Northwest, 34-21

(Grand Island, NE) - The Aurora Huskies downed the Northwest Vikings in the annual rivalry game on Friday night at Viking Field, 34-21. 

The Huskies led at the halftime break 13-7. The Huskies in the first half would get a Jayden Smith 2-yard TD run and a 12-yard TD run from Wyatt Pollett. Aurora tried a 2-point conversion on their 2nd score of the night but came up short on a Cannon Allen run. The Vikings got a 1-yard TD run from Caejon Suttles in the first half. 

Northwest would get off to a good start in the 2nd half with a Zane Harb interception that set up a 25-yard touchdown pass from Suttles to James Burhman. With the PAT through by Walker that gave Northwest a 14-13 lead. The Vikings would get an Aurora stop on a turnover on downs and then take it down and score again with a Suttles 3-yard touchdown run. The PAT made it 21-13 Northwest. That would be the final score of the game for the Vikings. 

After a good return by Aurora the Huskies would a quick touchdown with 2:32 left in the 3rd quarter on a Wyatt Pollett 11 yard TD run. Aurora would then pick up the 2-point conversion and tie the game at 21 all. Then with 1:47 left in the 3rd quarter, Cannon Allen would get a 47-yard pick-six to give Aurora the lead for good at 28-21. The Huskies then in the fourth quarter with 4:03 left in the game would have a 4th down and 9 play going for it and hitting Ryan Staehr on a 34 yard touch down pass. The PAT missed and Aurora would claim the 34-21 win. 

The Huskies at 2-3 will be at Adams Central next Friday night. Northwest is now 2-3 and will be at Seward next week.
