Bills to Educate Hotel Workers on Human Trafficking, and to Standardize County Board Livestock Practices advance

LB 320 advanced at the Nebraska Legislature on Wednesday, The bill, introduced by Senator Rita Sanders  provides an opportunity for every hotel employee to receive training facilitated by the Department of Labor within 6 months of employment to recognize, and identify the signs of human trafficking. This training would be provided by the Attorney General’s office at no cost to the employee. District 35 Senator Dan Quick gave his perspective.

After about 90 minutes of debate, LB320 advanced 44-0 with a pair of amendments.  

A measure that could help livestock producers expand their operations gained first round approval 
LB663, from Senator Tanya Storer would establish a clear and streamlined process for reviewing conditional use permits for livestock applications for county and planning commission boards. It also would establish timelines for permit applications to be processed. District 41 Senator Fred Meyer backs the bill.

LB663 advanced on a 35-2 vote.
