Hannah Camenzind threw the 42nd no-hitter in Nebraska history and the Husker bats scored 13 runs on 13 hits, and the No. 10 Nebraska softball team dominated Hawaii, 13-0, in five innings on Friday afternoon in Cathedral City, Calif.
With the win, the Big Red improved to 8-4 on the season and 2-0 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Both wins today came via the run rule for the Huskers.
H. Camenzind (2-0) threw all 5.0 innings for NU and allowed no hits and no runs. She added two strikeouts. Millie Fidge (1-1) took the loss for Hawaii. The no-hitter was the first since Jordy Frahm tossed a six-inning game with no hits on Feb. 15, 2025 against Northern Colorado.
Offensively, H. Camenzind was 3-for-3 at the plate, and herself and her sister, Lauren Camenzind, each logged three RBIs on the day. Malia Thoms added three RBIs of her own, as she knocked a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Talia Tokheim contributed two hits in her first start of the season, and Farrell added a home run. Ava Kuszak logged a triple and both Camenzind twins had two doubles.
NU grabbed a 4-0 lead in the second inning, as Bella Bacon was hit by a pitch and Coor and Tokheim both singled. All three were scored by a L. Camenzind double. L. Camenzind eventually scored on another double by her twin, H. Camenzind.
The Big Red extended the lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the third with the help of a pair of Hawaii errors. Tokheim logged a two-out single before L. Camenzind reached on an error. The two went to second and third, respectively, on a wild pitch and both crossed the plate on a H. Camenzind double. Farrell reached first on an error that also sent H. Camenzind to third and the two eventually scored on Kuszak’s triple.
A Thoms three-run homer and a Farrell two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth accounted for the rest of the Big Red scoring and closed out the 13-0 victory.
H. Camenzind finished the no-hitter by retiring nine of her final 10 batters faced.
The Huskers will take on No. 11 Texas A&M tomorrow, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on FloSoftball, which requires a subscription, and can be heard for free across the Huskers Radio Network.
