Cats hit first HR of Season; Win over Ord in 3 innings
The St. Paul Wildcats hit the road Tuesday night for a Lou Platte Conference matchup against the Ord Chanticleers. The contest was never in doubt for the Road Team as St. Paul batted through their lineup twice in the first and second innings enroute to a 27-3 victory.
The Cats got off to a hot start in the first scoring 10 runs before the first out was even recorded by the Chanticleers. A pitching change calmed things down momentarily for the chants but were unable to get out of the inning without more damage done as the Cats brought 3 more runs acrossed to take an early 13-0 lead. Ord chipped away at the lead with a run coming across off an error in the outfield to make the score 13-1
The Cats offense had deja vu in the 2nd inning once against batting through the lineup twice featuring a 3 run home run by Addy Wegner, the first of the season by any Wildcat. to increase their lead to 25-1. The Chants chipped away at the lead again with a passed ball bringing home a runner to make the score 25-2.
The Cats found more success in the 3rd as they were able to insert members of the Junior Varsity squad into the lineup and bring two additional runs across to round out their scoring at 27. Ord scored the Game's final run to finish the scoring at 27-3.
St. Paul improves to 4-5 on the year with a game on Thursday at Centennial on Country 96. Pregame at 5:50.
