It was home sweet home for the St. Paul Wildcats and Head Coach Matt Koehn-Fairbanks for the first time Thursday night as the Cats welcomed Doniphan-Trumbull to St Paul with a newly remodeled gymnasium floor. The Cardinals got off to a hot start winning the first 2 sets but the Wildcats rallied for the reverse sweep victory 23-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13, 15-13.

With the win, St. Paul improves to 16-7 on the season while Doniphan Trumbull drops to 14-9. Jessica Vetick and Katie Oakley combined for 34 kills while Natalie Poss tallied 48 assists and 3 aces. The other key stat from Thursday's victory was that Head Coach Matt Koehn-Fairbanks picked up win #600. Koehn-Fairbanks has been at the helm of the Wildcat Volleyball program since 2007 with his coaching career starting in Elba.

St. Paul will be back in action this weekend at the Wisner-Pilger invite before hosting round one of the Lou Platte Conference tournament on Monday before it shifts to the Bison Activity Dome in Central City.

Trevor Bentley had a chance to catch up with Coach Koehn-Fairbanks Thursday night. It will air Friday at Halftime of the Fairbury @ St. Paul Football game on Country 96.
