CCC Sees Enrollment Boost

Central Community College

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Enrollment at Central Community College is up at the start of the 2026 spring semester. Total college-wide enrollment stands at 6,624, up from 6,359 at the start of the 2025 spring semester and represents an increase of 4.2 percent. The spring semester enrollment total is comprised of 1,830 on-campus and 4,797 distance learning students. Full-time enrollment increased by 2.6 percent from spring semester a year ago.

Total college-wide enrollment is made up of students enrolled online and through CCC’s campuses in Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings as well as centers in Holdrege, Kearney, Lexington and Ord and educational hubs in Albion and Red Cloud. CCC also maintains early college programming with students in over 85 Nebraska high schools.

“We are pleased our enrollment continues to grow, even when challenged with a significant plant closing in Lexington,” said CCC President Dr. Matt Gotschall. “The ability to help educate individuals for new careers is a primary reason why community colleges were created, and we are eager to serve those impacted.”

The spring semester enrollment increase comes on the heels of CCC’s fifth winter commencement where 358 graduate candidates and 40 General Educational Development graduates were recognized.
