Central City Reaches C1 Semis

Football field at night with lights on and the words high school football.

Central City handed Columbus Lakeview its first loss, 19-7  in the C1 quarters on Friday. The Bison scored on their first possession after forcing a three-and-out.  Corbin Kyes scored from one yard out after a long pass play from Parker Zikmund to Wyatt Dent set up the score. Kyes rushed for over 100 yards for the 10th time this season.

The Bison would take a 13-0 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter when Dent took a reverse 10 yards for a score.

Lakeview's only offense came on a 70 yard pass from Rylin Viergutz to Nash Henk three plays later to cut the deficit to 13-7. The Vikings had a great chance to take the lead after recovering a Central City fumble.  But the Bison held on downs and took almost six minutes off the clock on their next drive.

Turner Hanke capped the scoring with a 42 yard interception return for a score.

The Bison (10-1) visit Sidney (11-0) on Friday.

Coach Troy Huebert talked with Steve Stein after the game.
