Central District Health Department awarded National Accreditation

Central District Health Department

Central District Health Department today announced it has been awarded national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board.

Established in 2007, the Public Health Accreditation (PHAB) is the non-profit organization that administers the national accreditation program, which aims to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation. Accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) demonstrates Central District Health Department’s (CDHD) commitment to excellence in serving the community and meeting foundational needs.

“The road to achieving accreditation involves participation by the Board of Health and all staff. We are pleased to be recognized by PHAB for achieving national standards for effectiveness and continuous quality improvement, said Teresa Anderson, Health Director, adding, “We hope this announcement provides assurance to our community, partners, funders and our elected officials that our programs and services meet the identified needs of those we serve in efficient effective ways.”

The national accreditation program, which receives support from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, sets standards against which the nation’s governmental public health departments can continuously improve the quality of their services and performance. There are over 3,000 Local Health Departments in the nation with just around 415 having successfully completed PHAB’s rigorous accreditation process. With this accomplishment, communities served by accredited health departments can trust that their department is strong, capable, and committed to protecting and promoting public health.

CDHD serves Hall, Hamilton and Merrick Counties in Central Nebraska providing services and programs including WIC, Epidemiology, Environmental, Lead Safety, Collective Impact, Dental, Health Families America, and Immunizations. Learn more about CDHD at cdhd.ne.gov or by calling 308-385-5175.
