CHI Health Good Samaritan among top hospitals worldwide for positive practice environment and staff well-being

KEARNEY- CHI Health Good Samaritan is being recognized on a global scale for creating a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has designated Good Samaritan as a Pathway to Excellence organization–only 253 hospitals worldwide have achieved this prestigious honor.

The Pathway designation recognizes Good Samaritan’s effort to enhance quality of care, patient and nursing safety and the future of health care delivery. Pathway nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety, and better patient outcomes.

“This honor reflects Good Samaritan’s commitment to a collaborative workplace that empowers and gives a voice to our staff,” says Kimber Bonner, vice president, patient care services. “Our nurses embody the highest standards in nursing practice. Their active engagement in all aspects of the hospital, from staff satisfaction to patient safety, leads to better patient care and outcomes. I’m incredibly proud of the sustained culture of excellence we’ve created together.”

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is an internationally renowned credentialing program that certifies and recognizes individual nurses in specialty practice areas. ANCC also recognizes health care organizations that promote nursing excellence and quality patient outcomes while providing safe, positive work environments. In addition, ANCC accredits healthcare organizations that provide and approve continuing nursing education and accredits transition to practice programs and prepares nurses for new practice roles.

The ANCC Pathway to Excellence Program recognizes a health care organization’s commitment to creating a positive practice environment that empowers and engages staff. By investing in the optimum workplace for nurses, organizations demonstrate a culture of sustained excellence, resulting in the successful recruitment of top candidates and staff retention through high job satisfaction. Nurses are even empowered in the Pathway to Excellence application process itself; since frontline staff must validate that their experience with the organization meets the Pathway Standards – before designation can be achieved.
