CLASS Act Awards Nearly $94,000 to Support Kearney Public Schools

Kearney Public Schools

Kearney, NE — CLASS Act, a fundraising branch of the Kearney Public Schools Foundation, awarded nearly $94,000 in classroom and building grants to Kearney Public Schools educators and buildings on Thursday, October 30, continuing its mission to support academics, technology, athletics, fine arts, drug/alcohol education, and student safety throughout the district.

Each fall, KPS teachers are invited to apply for classroom grants. This year, CLASS Act received 45 applications requesting more than $127,000 — a testament to the creativity and dedication of KPS educators. Approximately $48,000 in Teacher Grants was awarded to fund projects including musical instruments, flexible seating, literacy and Spanish learning tools, a 3D printer, and a field trip to UNMC for students in need of dental care.

In addition, CLASS Act awarded $45,800 in Building Grants to all 14 KPS schools, providing administrators flexible funds to support school-wide needs that arise during the year. These dollars help bridge the gap between school budgets and real-time needs in classrooms and buildings.

“These grants represent our community’s commitment to supporting student success and empowering our teachers,” said spokesperson Pam Hill, Class Act Director. “With continued support, we can bring even more innovative learning opportunities to Kearney Public Schools.”

CLASS Act is supported by community volunteers and donors who make these grants possible through the organization’s annual fundraising efforts. The next CLASS Act Dinner & Auction will take place on April 18, 2026, and board members will be inviting community partners to help fund next year’s classroom and school projects.
