San Francisco, Calif. -- Five different hitters provided an RBI, but Creighton pitchers were the story as the Bluejay hurlers limited the Dons to just three hits in a 7-1 win on Sunday, March 16 as Creighton took the series from San Francisco.

The win lifted Creighton to 10-5 on the season, while San Francisco fell to 10-11.

With four runs in the fourth, Creighton took control in the middle portion of the contest. With one out in the inning, three straight singles from Nate McHugh, Ben North and Connor Capece gave Creighton a 1-0 lead. The advantage grew to 2-0 on a productive out from Kyle Hess, then plated a third run on a single to left from Matt Scherrman. The final run of the frame came in on an RBI grounder by Tate Gillen.

San Francisco pushed across a run in the fifth via an RBI grounder from Kenny DeCelle, but Creighton answered with one in the seventh and two more in the ninth.

Creighton's run in the seventh scored on a fielding error, while the two runs in the ninth crossed an RBI singles by Sailors and McHugh.

Freshman Wilson Magers earned the win (3-1) with five innings of one run ball, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out seven. The trio of Noah Klein (0.1 IP), Matt Aukerman (1.2 IP) and Braden Gluth (2.0 IP) closed the door for Creighton with four scoreless frames. San Francisco starter Aiden Risse took the loss (2-2), giving up four runs (one earned) on five hits in five innings.

The tandem of Nolan Sailors and Nate McHugh each closed the game with two hits and one RBI.

A quick turnaround brings the Bluejays back to the diamond on Tuesday, March 18 at Charles Schwab Field against South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits come to Omaha with a 2-13 record this season.
