Creighton Men's Basketball Earns #5 Seed and BIG EAST Tourney

OMAHA, Neb. -- After trading victories in games decided in the final three seconds during the regular-season, Creighton and Seton Hall will meet on Thursday, March 12th at 1:30 p.m. Central in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament presented by JEEP. Creighton (15-16, 9-11 BIG EAST) is the No. 5 seed and earned a bye into the quarterfinals after Butler won at DePaul on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hall (20-11, 10-10 BIG EAST) is the No. 4 seed in the tournament.

The game will be broadcast on Peacock and NBC Sports Network and can be heard on the radio in Omaha on 1620 The Zone and 101.9 The Keg.

Creighton and Seton Hall met twice in the regular-season, with the home team posting a late comeback each time. Seton Hall won 56-54 in Newark on January 4th, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the final 15 minutes. Najai Hines turned an offensive rebound into a three-point play with 1.3 seconds left for the Pirates. In the rematch in Omaha on Feb. 7th, Nik Graves made a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left as CU overcame a nine-point deficit in the last 90 seconds as Creighton won 69-68.

Regular-season champion St. John's (25-6, 18-2 BIG EAST) earned the top seed in the tournament, with Connecticut (27-4, 17-3) second and Villanova (24-7, 15-5) the third seed. Rounding out the rest of the bracket is
sixth-seeded DePaul (16-15, 8-12), seventh-seeded Marquette (12-19, 7-13), eighth-seeded Butler (16-15, 7-13), ninth-seeded Providence (14-17, 7-13), 10th-seeded Xavier (14-17, 6-14) and 11th-seeded Georgetown (14-17, 6-14). 

The tournament will open on Wednesday with a First Round match-up featuring Butler against Providence at 3 p.m. Central, followed at 5:30 p.m. Central when Xavier squares off against Marquette. Play concludes on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Central when Georgetown takes on DePaul.

Should Creighton advance, Friday's semifinal will air on FOX at 4:30 p.m. Central. Saturday's final is a 5:30 p.m. Central tip that also airs on FOX.

Creighton is 0-1 all-time against Seton Hall at the BIG EAST Tournament, dropping a 2016 quarterfinal game 81-73 to the Pirates.
