Creighton’s Ashworth & Traudt Named Academic All-District

OMAHA, Neb. -- For the first time since 2003-04, Creighton had a pair of men's basketball student-athletes honored by College Sports Communicators with a pair of Academic All-District selections as Steven Ashworth and Isaac Traudt were recognized on Tuesday.
They are Creighton's first Academic All-District selections since Tyler Clement in 2017-18, and the first time CU's had a pair of men's basketball players honored since Brody Deren and Michael Lindeman in 2003-04.
Traudt averaged 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while appearing in all 36 games this season, including four starts. He shot 38.4 percent from three-point range and 94.1 percent at the free throw line. The Grand Island, Neb., product, is a Finance major. He is a member of the Creighton Dean's List and the BIG EAST's All-Academic Team.
Ashworth led the BIG EAST with 6.83 assists and 3.14 three-pointers per game, as well as 93.0 percent marksmanship at the free throw line, and ranks second on the CU team with 16.4 points per contest. He was named Second Team All-BIG EAST after becoming the first player in Creighton history to record 500 points and 200 assists in the same season. The Alpine, Utah native is a Leadership major and has previously been named to the Creighton Dean's List, NABC Honors Court, BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Academic All-Mountain West and was the 2023-24 recipient of the BIG EAST's Sportsmanship Award.
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games or started at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 15, 2025.
Creighton Men's Basketball's last Academic All-American was Tyler Clement, a First Team honoree in 2017-18.
The Bluejays finished their season on Saturday with a 25-11 record and are one of four teams nationally to win an NCAA Tournament game each of the past five seasons.
