Manhattan, Kansas -- A slow start that saw Creighton Women's Basketball fall behind 15-5 in the opening five minutes proved to be the Bluejays undoing in an 86-68 loss at #10 Kansas State on Thursday, November 14.

The loss moved Creighton to 1-2 on the season, while the Wildcats moved to 3-0.

Kansas State's early surge was keyed by four treys in the opening stanza as the Wildcats pushed their 15-5 edge to a 22-9 advantage as the game moved to the second quarter.

Creighton found its footing in the second quarter as the Bluejays connected from beyond the arc twice, but the size advantage allowed K-State to take a 39-23 lead into the locker room at the half.

Coming back on the floor the Bluejays scored on each of their first two possessions to pull within 39-27, but Kansas State responded with a 9-2 response to regain control. The third quarter turned into a offensive battle, with the Wildcats taking the frame 29-23.

Creighton delivered a strong fourth period, getting four treys, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Junior Kennedy Townsend led Creighton with a career-high 16 points, while Morgan Maly finished with 15. Kiani Lockett reached double-figures for the third straight game with 11 points.

Kansas State got a game-high 28 points from Ayoka Lee, while Temira Poindexter and Serena Sundell each closed the game with 12 points.

The Bluejays return to the hardwood on Friday, November 22 as Creighton takes on rival Nebraska at 4:00 p.m. in D.J. Sokol Arena.
