Creighton Women's Basketball Dropped at DePaul 76-61

Chicago, Ill. -- Creighton Women's Basketball dropped a 76-61 decision at DePaul on Sunday, January 25. The loss moved the Bluejays to 8-12 on the season and 4-7 in BIG EAST play, while DePaul climbed to 5-17 overall and 2-9 in conference contest.

Freshman Neleigh Gessert got going early with a pair of treys in the first quarter, but five Bluejay turnovers led to nine DePaul points as the Blue Demons led 23-18 heading into the second quarter.

Fellow freshman Ava Zediker delivered six points on 3-of-5 from the field in the second quarter, but DePaul shot 9-of-15 as a team to hold a 44-31 edge at the break.

Trailing 58-45 late in the third (2:36), the Bluejays scored the final nine points of the frame to get within four at 58-54.Zediker and Kendall McGee accounted for all nine Bluejay points, forcing the issue with drives to the bucket.

DePaul regained control with a 10-2 surge to open the fourth and outscored Creighton 18-7 in the frame to put the game away.

led Creighton with 19 points, while Grace Boffeli finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her 43rd career double-double. Two other Bluejays delivered at least 10 points as Neleigh Gessert had 11 and Kennedy Townsend finished with 10 points. DePaul got 17 points from Kate Novik and 16 from Devin Hagemann to lead the Blue Demons.

Creighton returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 28 at home against St. John's in a game slated to begin at 6:00 pm.
