Crusader Boys Cruise Past Broken Bow, 51-37


(Grand Island, NE) - The GICC Crusader boys basketball team defeated the Broken Bow Indians on Tuesday night, 51-37. 

It took the first quarter for the Crusaders to warm up after they trailed 10-9 at the break. GICC then turned it up in the second quarter. Several hustle plays by senior Thomas Birch, along with 10 points in the quarter by Birch, led a 21-4 run by GICC. GICC would only give up one two-point field goal at the start of the quarter. Broken Bow would then scratch across two free throws with 23 seconds left before halftime. 

GICC would maintain its distance going into the fourth quarter with a 42-20 lead. Broken Bow would get the deficit to 12 a couple of different times, but the Crusaders would not allow it to get any closer. 

Central Catholic would be led by Connor Haney with 18 points. Thomas Birch would have 14 points. Broken Bow would be led by Drew Ellis with 13 points and Dominic Nowak with 10 points. The Indians end their season with a record of 11-14.
