Crusaders fall to Lakeview in SB Season opener

Columbus Lakeview survived a well pitched season opener in a 3-2 win over GICC. Cali Bentz and Emily Price each went the distance for their respective teams. Bentz, the Nebraska recruit, struck out 12 and didn't walk anyone. Price, a freshman, struck out 10 and walked three in her high school debut. 

The Vikings used a two out walk a stolen base and an RBI single for a run in the first. The Crusaders tied the game on a solo homer from Ava Delgado in the fifth. 

But Lakeview came right back with two in the sixth. Sydney Spohn doubled and scored on Bentz's triple. Emma Finecy knocked in her second run of the game with a fielder's-choice grounder.

GICC responded with a run in the bottom of the inning. Addy Bishop doubled home Jacie Paulik.

The Crusaders play Fairbury, Cozad and York at the York tournament on Saturday.
