Cushing Throws No Hitter - GI Downs Omaha South, 2-0


Grand Island Islanders Baseball

(Grand Island, NE) - Brock Cushing was stellar on the mound, GI got two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, and that's all that the Islanders would need to defeat Omaha South on Friday afternoon at Ryder Park, 2-0. 

Cushing would toss seven innings for GI on 77 pitches. Giving up two walks, no hits, and nine strikeouts. The two runs for GI would be brought in by Sam Dinkelman and Sam Schroeder, who both ended the game with one hit and one RBI. Gabe Ruiz would have two hits on the day. 

With the win in the A-5 district tournament semi-final against the Packers, GI now advances to the district championship game at Kearney on Saturday, May 10th. First pitch is set for 2:00 pm. Listen live on KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com. The winner of Saturday's game gets the automatic birth to the Class A state baseball tournament.
