EPIC Discovery Center Celebrates Construction Milestone and Calls for Public Support to Reach Year-End Campaign Goal
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — December 16, 2025 — EPIC Discovery Center is celebrating two major milestones on its journey to become Central Nebraska’s top youth destination. EPIC officially received the keys to its facility, marking the completion of Chief Construction’s general contract work. This milestone opens the door for the next phase of exhibit installation, bringing the long-awaited center closer to opening.
With construction now complete, EPIC will transition into exhibit installation once KidZibits finalizes fabrication. The organization remains on track for an anticipated grand opening in Spring of 2026, when families across the region will experience a dynamic, hands-on environment designed to spark imagination, discovery, and learning.
“Taking the keys to the building is an exciting moment not only for EPIC, but for our entire community,” said Alison Larson, EPIC Discovery Center Executive Director. “We’re entering the final stretch as we turn this vision into a vibrant, interactive space for youth and families.”
As EPIC moves closer to opening its doors, the organization is also celebrating strong momentum in its capital campaign. The project has reached 83% of its overall fundraising goal and aims to reach 90% by year-end, with community support. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to support the project through multi-year pledges and one-time donations, which are vital to bringing the EPIC Discovery Center to life. Supporters may also schedule building tours to see firsthand how their contributions will shape transformative, hands-on learning experiences for children and families across the region.
“We know this time of year is important as families make charitable giving decisions,” Larson said. “We hope that EPIC can be part of those year-end contributions. Every gift, large or small, moves us closer to welcoming children of all ages in Central Nebraska to EPIC.”
In addition, EPIC is offering a limited-time window for purchasing annual memberships. These memberships make meaningful, experience-based gifts for families and will not be offered again until closer to the grand opening date. Memberships can be purchased at www.epicdiscovery.org and will be valid on opening day through Spring of 2027.

EPIC Discovery Center is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math)-based hands-on Discovery Center for youth of all ages. The facility features a main-floor exhibit hall designed for children and families, as well as a dedicated space for middle- and high–school–aged youth. Through interactive exhibits and educational programming, EPIC aims to create meaningful experiences that enrich the lives of children and families across Central Nebraska and beyond. The center is expected to open in Spring 2026.
