Equitable Bank to Break Ground on New Headquarters in Grand Island’s Prairie Commons District

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — October 22, 2025 — Equitable Bank will officially break ground on its new headquarters in Grand Island’s Prairie Commons District, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the 143-year-old community bank. Members of the press and the public are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the new site, located in the Prairie Commons District development at 3450 Ewoldt Street, Grand Island, NE 68803.

The new facility will include an additional full-service customer banking branch and serve as Equitable Bank’s new headquarters. This location will bring together operations under one roof to support the Grand Island, North Platte, and Omaha branches, while also strengthening the bank’s presence in the growing Grand Island community.

"We are excited to continue the growth of Equitable Bank,” said Tom Gdowski, President/CEO. “Our success is built on our customers' success, and this additional growth is evidence that we continue to create value for our customers and stakeholders. Representing the longest continuing business in Grand Island is a success we are proud of!"

Construction on the new headquarters begins this fall and is anticipated to be completed in early 2027. The modern facility will provide an innovative and collaborative workspace designed to support the bank’s continued growth and commitment to exceptional service.

“We are looking forward to being the first bank to be located in the beautiful Prairie Commons area of Grand Island and can’t wait to serve existing and new customers at this new facility,” said Sherri O’Callaghan, Grand Island Community Bank President.

The new Prairie Commons location will join Equitable Bank’s two existing Grand Island branches downtown and on Diers Avenue, expanding convenient access for customers across the community. Customers will not experience any disruption to their banking services during construction or the transition.
