GILT Schedules Auditions for Summer Musical

Grand Island Little Theatre is announcing auditions for the summer show of the 2024-2025 season, “Disaster!”, a musical comedy by Jack Plotnich and Seth Rudestky. Audition dates are April 7 and 8, 7:00 to 8:30PM at College Park, 3180 West US Highway 34, Grand Island. Use the backstage double doors, located on the southwest corner of the auditorium, Door #3. Auditions for Dance Corps (age high school and up) are April 14 6-7PM at Studio N Dance Center 1004 N Diers Ave #260. Production dates for the show are June 11-15.

Earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos and the unforgettable songs of the 70’s take center stage in Broadway’s side-splitting homage to classic disaster films. It’s 1979, and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic, as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they’ve lost…or, at least, escape the killer rats.

Cast needed includes five women ages 20-65, five men ages 20-65, one role for a high school age female or male with good falsetto range age 15 and up, ensemble with small roles and Dance Corps. Folks auditioning will be asked to read from a script, that will be provided and do some simple choreography. Please have a prepared snippet from a rock/pop song (70s or 80s). An accompanist will be provided, if needed.

Directors are Jeri Lorenz and Julie Miller. Cheryl Schuett is Music Director, Mark Landis is Pit Director, and Nicole Hicken is Choreographer. Jeannee Fossberg is the Producer.
