Update: GIPD Responds to Standoff with Armed Individual
(Grand Island, NE) - Just after 5:00 am GIPD was dispatched to the area of CHI Health St Francis & Faidley Ave/Kennedy Dr in reference to a disturbance. Officers then met with the subject who had several weapons. Officers then retreated and were then able to contain the subject in the hallway of an apartment complex off Orleans Dr. As of 8:00 am the stand-off was still in progress with Grand Island Police. Grand Island Police have alerted the public via social media that the incident in the 700 block of Orleans Dr. has reached a peaceful resolution.
Police expressed thanks to the community and local business / medical cooperation throughout this incident.
