GIPD to Conduct Child Restraint Safety Operations

Grand Island Police

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department will be conducting a series of child restraint safety operations this fall near elementary schools across the city.

The initiative, which is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 16 through October 28, is designed with education and compliance in mind. Officers will be present during school drop-off times to observe child passenger safety practices and provide guidance to parents and guardians.

The goal is to ensure that children are traveling safely and correctly in vehicles, in accordance with state child restraint laws and best practices.

“Keeping children safe is always our highest priority,” Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney said. “These operations are intended to provide a supportive and educational approach, helping families understand how to properly secure children in car seats, booster seats or seat belts.”

The scheduled dates and locations are:

  *   September 23 – Gates Elementary
