Grand Island Baseball Season Ends As A5 Runner-Up

(Kearney, NE) - The Grand Island Senior High baseball team would see its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Kearney Bearcats by a final score of 7-4.
Grand Island would get an early lead of 3-0 in the top of the 2nd inning. Ethan Coslor would get a 2 RBI single and then Sam Dinkelman would follow things up with an RBI double.
Kearney would come back and tie the game at three with a three-spot in the bottom of the third. The 3-3 tie wouldn't last to long as Kearney would strike again in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring four more runs, making it 7-3.
GI would get one run in the top of the 7th, but that would be as close as the Islanders would get.
The Islander season ends with a record of 18-9. Kearney (22-9) advances to the Class A state baseball tournament to take on Elkhorn South in the first round on Friday, May 16th at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
