Grand Island First Responders to Host 2nd-Annual Halloween with Heroes Event

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department and Fire Department, will be teaming up with under emergency responders to once again bring some Halloween fun to local families through the 2nd-Annual Halloween with Heroes event.

The event, which is hosted by the Hall County Crime Stoppers, is set for Thursday, October 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the Fonner Park Sheep Barn. The free, family-friendly Trunk-or-Treat event invites children of all ages to dress in costume and enjoy a safe and festive evening of candy, games and community interaction. The event provides a unique opportunity for local families to meet Grand Island’s first responders, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other public safety professionals, as well as several community organizations and local businesses that help make the event possible.

Last year’s inaugural Halloween with Heroes was a huge success, drawing an estimated 1,700 children and more than 50 participating businesses. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger, and organizers have worked hard to create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for families while highlighting the positive relationships between first responders and the residents they serve.

“The goal of this event is to build trust and strengthen our connection with the community,” said Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney. “We want children to see our officers, firefighters, and paramedics as approachable, friendly, and ready to help — not just in emergencies, but as neighbors and community members too.”

In addition to trick-or-treating, families can expect a variety of themed trunks and booths decorated by first responders and local organizations, giveaways and opportunities to explore emergency vehicles up close.
