Grand Island Public Library Expands NewsBank Access to Include Current Digital Editions of The Grand Island Independent

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library is happy to announce an upgrade to its NewsBank subscription, now providing patrons free access to current, full-color digital editions of The Grand Island Independent.

Beginning with the Saturday, January 11, 2025 edition, library cardholders can read issues up to and including the day’s publication through the library’s digital platform. This enhancement allows residents to access local news coverage anytime and anywhere with an internet connection.

“This addition to our digital resources ensures that our community has free access to timely local news and information,” said Reference & Collections Services Librarian Shaun Klee. “Whether patrons want to stay informed about local events, read community announcements or research current topics, they can now do so from the comfort of their own homes.”

The NewsBank digital editions include several key features:

* Full-color, page-by-page viewing identical to the standard digital subscription edition
* Tools to clip and save articles
* Completely free access for cardholders, with no additional subscriptions required

A valid Grand Island Public Library card is required to view The Grand Island Independent digital edition. Library cards are free for all Hall County residents. The Grand Island Public Library serves residents of the City of Grand Island and Hall County. Anyone living in or owning property within Hall County may apply for a library card at no cost.
