Hall County to hold deputy registrar training

Hall County Seal

GRAND ISLAND - The Hall County Election Office will be offering three training sessions for registered voters to become a Deputy Registrar – a volunteer who is trained and certified to register people to vote.

The one-hour training is free and open to registered voters who desire to assist in the election process by registering voters at community events. The certification obtained is good for three years and is good in any county in Nebraska.

“Being a Deputy Registrar is a great way to learn more about voter registration in Nebraska and to help voters get updated and ready for the next election,” said Hall County Election Commissioner Tracy Overstreet. “Nebraska has two statewide elections this year – the primary on May 12th and the general election on November 3rd. Some communities also have special elections this year for school bond votes.”

Deputy Registrars can register first-time voters, including citizens who turn 18 by November 3, and they can register existing voters who need an update after a change of address, name or political party.

The Deputy Registrar training times are:

                Monday, January 26 at 5:30 p.m.

                Tuesday, January 27 at 1:30 p.m.

                Wednesday, January 28 at 10 a.m.

The trainings will be offered at the Hall County Election Office on the first floor of the Hall County Administration Building, 200 S. Sycamore Street.

Those registered voters interested in becoming a Deputy Registrar should reserve a training spot by calling the Hall County Election Office at 308-385-5085 or emailing [email protected].
