Heartland United Way welcomes Sarah Cover to Board of Directors

GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA (October 7, 2025) The Heartland United Way is pleased to announce Sarah Cover as the newest member of the Heartland United Way Board of Directors. Cover was born and raised in Kearney and now calls Central City home.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sarah to the Heartland United Way Board of Directors. Having representation from each of the four counties we serve—Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick—is vital to connecting local people to resources and opportunities to thrive. Sarah brings great energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for helping people, and we’re excited for the difference she will make,” said Heartland United Way President and Chief Professional Officer Karen Rathke.
Cover got her first taste of United Way service volunteering as a student at the University of Nebraska Kearney. A former educator, Cover is now focused on giving back through the Central City Bison Parent-Teacher Organization and as the Director of Religious Formation at her church as well as raising her five children with husband Blake.
