Hoos & Santin join St. Francis Community Board

Grand Island – CHI Health St. Francis is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Hoos and Mary Santin to its Community Board of Directors. They began serving a 3-year term July 1.

Following nine years of dedicated service, Mary Kuntz and Steve Kunzman retired from the board.

Hoos and Santin join current board members Jordan Engle, Chairperson; Shane Burr, MD, Ex-Officio; Bishop Joseph Hanefeldt; Captain Jim Duering; Traci Rouch, MD; Lee Jacobsen; Marcie Kemnitz; Phillip Martin, Katie Peters, MSN, APRN; Jose Guerrero; Diane Harms; Steve Schieber, President and Cierra Ruskamp, Nurse President.

“As we bid farewell to our retiring members, we thank them for their tireless dedication and the positive impact they've had on the health and well-being of our community. And our new members share our same passion for providing exceptional care and building a healthier community together,” says President Steve Schieber. “Our past and present board’s insights and commitment is invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our staff, patients and community.” 

Paul Hoos, a 32-year veteran with Shelter Insurance, is an alumnus of Grand Island Senior High and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He is deeply involved in the community, having previously served on the boards of Hope Harbor, CHI Health St. Francis Foundation and College Park. Currently, Hoos serves on the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation board. Married with five daughters, he enjoys spending time with his family, deer hunting and working with cattle.

Mary Santin, a 20-year Medicare agent and former pharmaceutical sales representative, is an alumnus of Kearney State College and Southern New Hampshire University. With 40 years of healthcare and insurance experience, plus a recent 27-day hospital stay, she is a strong advocate for the hospital, healthcare access and senior advocacy. Santin previously served eight years on the CHI Health St. Francis Foundation Board. She and her husband, a lifelong farmer north of Palmer, NE, have five children and eight grandchildren.
