Huskers Enter Coaches Poll, Move Up in NET, AP

Husker Basketball Womens

Lincoln - The unbeaten Nebraska women's basketball team entered the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 rankings for the first time this season on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

The 11-0 Huskers, who entered the coaches poll at No. 25, moved up to No. 23 in Monday's Associated Press Poll after victories over Omaha (87-35) and Illinois State (85-44) in Lincoln last week.

More importantly, the Big Red moved up to No. 11 in the NCAA NET rankings through games Dec. 15.

Nebraska features one of the nation's most efficient offenses, leading the Big Ten and ranking second nationally in field goal percentage (.529).

The Huskers, who rank ninth in NCAA Division I in scoring (89.8 ppg), also rank third nationally in bench scoring (36.4 ppg) while ranking fifth in assists (21.9 apg).

Two-time Nebraska High School Player of the Year Britt Prince leads the Big Red by averaging 19.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest, while ranking eighth nationally in field goal percentage (.620).

The Huskers will be back in action this weekend at Pinnacle Bank Arena, as they close non-conference play against Cal Baptist (6-5). The Lancers are coached by Nebraska native and Doane University Hall of Famer Jarrod Olson. CBU's Athletic Director is former Nebraska women's basketball director of operations Dr. Micah Parker, who coached Concordia in Seward to the 2002 NAIA Sweet 16. One of Cal Baptist's top players is junior guard Khloe Lemon, who helped Millard South to a Class A state title and was a member of the All-Nebraska Team in 2023.

A win for Nebraska on Sunday would match the 2021-22 Huskers for the second-longest winning streak in school history at 12 games, trailing only the 30-0 start by the 2009-10 Big Red squad.

Tip-off with the Lancers is set for 11 a.m. as part of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader at PBA, with the men taking on North Dakota at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now at Huskers.com.
