Marcello To Be Laid To Rest Wednesday
A fallen Grand Island Police Investigator will be laid to rest today
Christopher Marcello began his career with GIPD in 2013. He passed away due to natural causes last week.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. at Third City Christian Church in Grand Island, followed by a procession to his final resting place at Park View Cemetery in Hastings
The following information on the procession route was shared by the Hastings Police Department via social media this morning.
Today at 10am there is a funeral in Grand Island for Investigator Marcello. He was a 23-year military veteran and 7 year sworn member of the Grand Island Police Department.
After the funeral, Investigator Marcello will be laid to rest at the Park View Cemetery in Hastings. It is expected that there will be several hundred vehicles with a large police and military presence within this procession.
After the funeral the procession will be arriving in Hastings at approximately 11:30 am. This time is an estimate and is subject to change based on the size of the procession.
We want all Hastings residents to know of the possible traffic delays. We will conduct traffic control for this very important escort. We will have officers at Highway 281 and 42 St, Highway 281 and 33rd street, Highway 281 and North Shore. The procession will turn east onto North Shore to Osborne Drive East. The procession will continue on 26th Street to Elm Avenue and then into Park View Cemetery.
We also encourage you to honor Investigator Marcello by standing or parking in a safe area along the route to show respect for the family, friends, the Grand Island Police Department, and the Nebraska National Guard, during these very difficult times.
Flags are being flown at half-staff in Hall County in honor of Officer Marcello
