McMillen Recognized as Freshman to Watch

Nebraska softball freshman Nessa McMillen was named a Freshman to Watch by Softball America, the organization announced Tuesday. 

 

McMillen, an outfielder and utility player, was a four-time All-State and All-Conference selection in high school. She hit above .400 in each of her seasons, including an impressive .538 as a senior. As a senior, she notched a school-record 63 runs, along with 59 RBIs, 57 hits and 13 home runs. 

 

The Blair, Neb., native played club ball for the Kansas City Aces. She helped her team to a runner-up national finish at the 2023 Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series.

 

McMillen and the rest of the Huskers will open their season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic from Feb. 6-9 in Clearwater, Fla.
