Mules Sink 15 Threes to Down The Loper Men

The Central Missouri Mules shot 57 percent from the field and sunk 15 three pointers to down Nebraska Kearney, 99-69, Saturday evening in Warrensburg.

UCM (9-2, 2-0) and UNK (4-5, 0-2) meet again Jan. 29 in Kearney.

The Lopers got a big effort from Texas redshirt senior point guard Ja'Bryant Hill (23 points, five assists, two steals and two rebounds), but the Mules led for the last 25 minutes. Hill started the game's scoring with back-to-back threes and UNK still led at the 5:52 mark, 28-27. However, UCM closed the half on a 19-2 run that featured two threes, a three-point play and 8 for 9 shooting.

Ten different Mules scored on the night with six hitting a triple. The leaders from behind the arc were redshirt sophomore reserve AJ Lux (4 for 5) and sophomore Kyran Tilley (4 for 7). Lux (12) and Tilley (16) reached double figures as did Lincoln freshman Lazarek Houston (22) and sophomore reserve forward Deadrick Fikes (16). Finally, UCM was plus 12 on the glass and got 42 points from its bench.

Also, for the Lopers St. Louis senior Kendrick Gilbert had 10 points and five boards with Mullen sophomore Clayton Moore at nine points and two assists.

Five of the next seven games come at the Health & Sports Center, starting next Saturday (Dec. 13) vs. NAIA Hesston (Kan.) College.
