Nebraska Lawmakers Keep School Choice Funds in Budget

A proposal to eliminate $3.5 million in funds to help students attend private schools failed at the Nebraska Legislature on Monday. The funding is a one-time bridge until a new federal tax law takes effect. The amendment to LB 1071, from Senator Tom Brandt received 23 votes, two shy of the votes needed to remove the funding.
