Northwest Basketball Splits Home Saturday Contest vs Seward
(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest basketball teams split a pair of home games on Saturday afternoon vs the Seward Bluejays. The Seward girls won the first contest of the day with a 57-45 win. The two teams would go back in forth in the first half as the Jays would have a 33-27 lead at the break. Northwest would fall down 10 in the 3rd quarter, cut it to one close to the end of the quarter, but that would be as close as the Vikings would get. Northwest would win on Friday night, defeating Crete 70-44.
The boys' contest would be similar to the girls' game as both teams would go back in forth in the first half with Seward leading by one at the break, 31-30. Northwest would then hit the gas in the second half and take control of the game, outscoring Seward in the 3rd quarter, 21-6, and 20-16 in the 4th quarter en route to the 71-53 win. Northwest, with the win, has now won three games in a row after dropping the season opener to Gretna East. The Vikings defeated Crete on Friday night by a final score of 63-52.
