Northwest defeats Aurora volleyball 3-1


(Aurora, NE) - The Northwest Viking volleyball team would win the rivalry match on Tuesday night defeating the Aurora Huskies 3-1. Northwest would win a nip and tuck first set by a final score of 25-22. The Vikings would then run away from Aurora in the 2nd set with a 25-9 victory. The Huskies would not lay down when it came to the 3rd set winning 26-24. In the 3rd set, Northwest would trail 22-19. The Vikings would come back and tie the set at 23 all and then again at 24. In the fourth and final frame, Northwest would win 25-19. Makayla Rhoads would lead the Vikings with 15 kills, and Whitney Loman would follow with 13 kills. The Vikings with the win are now 6-8 on the season and will host a triangular on Thursday with Lexington and Kearney Catholic. Aurora with the loss is now 5-12 on the season and will host the Aurora Invite on Saturday. Below listen to post-match comments with Northwest volleyball coach Lindsay Harders after the match.
