Northwest Softball Takes Down Skutt To Advance To Class B Title Game

(Hastings, NE) -The Northwest softball team advanced to the state title game on Monday with a win over Omaha Skutt Catholic, 4-1, on Thursday night at the Bill Smith Softball Complex.
The Vikings got an early lead of 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Becca Dinkelman would bring in Abby Dinkelman on an RBI double. Laiken Dorsey would then get an RBI single, bringing in Becca Dinkelman. Sadie Cemper would provide the third run by hitting a fly ball to the Skutt left fielder, who would miss playing the ball, allowing Madi Cole to score.
The Vikings would get one more run in the game in the bottom of the third inning as Libby Loman would smack a ball to left field for a home run on the first pitch she would see to make it 4-0 Vikings.
Skutt wouldn't manage to make a threat in the game until the top of the 7th inning, bringing in one run. The Skyhawks would have two runners on with the tying run at the plate. Northwest pitcher Gracyln Simmons would strike out Schmaderer to end the game and punch Northwest's ticket to the state title game on Monday, October 20th.
The Vikings will take on Beatrice at 3:30 pm at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln. Listen live on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com.
It will be the 2nd meeting of the year between the Lady O and the Vikings. Northwest defeated Beatrice Saturday, August 23rd, 6-3.
