Northwest Volleyball Finishes Runner Up at Beatrice Tournament

(Beatrice, NE) - The Northwest volleyball team went 2-1 at the Beatrice tournament on Saturday.
The Vikings defeated host Beatrice in the first match of the day, 25-9, 25-16. Ava Janulewicz had 11 kills in the two sets. Anna Bauer, Tessa Scheer, and Anna Bauer each had two kills. The Vikings would have 7 ace serves. Kenna Bowman would have 17 set assists in the match.
Northwest would then defeat Aurora in the semi-finals 2-1. 30-28, 22-25, 25-14. Ava Janulewicz had 17 kills. Ellie Payne had 10 kills. Nasya Anderson chipped in 5 kills along with Tessa Scheer and Kenna Bowman, each with 4 kills. The Vikings ripped 11 aces serves. Janulewicz would have 4 aces, along with Maleigh Avila with 3 aces. Kenna Bowman would tally up 30 set assists. Kaitlyn Staehr for Aurora led the charge for the Huskies with 10 kills.
The third match of the day would go to the Waverly Vikings in the championship, winning 2-0. 25-23, 25-18. Janulewicz would have 11 kills. Tessa Scheer had 5 kills, along with Ellie Payne having 3 kills. Kenna Bowman would have 18 set assists.
Northwest is now 5-3 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday, September 9th, hosting Crete (7:00 pm). Then the Vikings will go to North Platte on Thursday, September 11th. Listen to Thursday's match live on 103.1 FM (7:00 pm).
