YORK - On February 13, at approximately 8:59 p.m., a Sergeant with the York County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a sedan traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 352 for a traffic violation.

During the course of the stop, a male passenger provided the Sergeant with a false name. Through further investigation, the male was positively identified as Christopher Martin (23) of Omaha, NE. Deputies discovered Martin was currently subject to an active domestic abuse protection order prohibiting any contact with a female occupant inside the vehicle. It also was the second time that the male had been caught violating the order.

Martin was immediately placed under arrest for Violation of a Domestic Abuse Protection Order, 2nd Offense and Criminal Impersonation. He was transported to and lodged at York County Corrections.
Domestic violence remains a serious and ongoing concern in our communities. Protection orders are issued by the court to safeguard victims from further harm. Violations of these orders demonstrate a disregard for the law and, more importantly, for the safety and wellbeing of victims. The York County Sheriff’s Office takes all domestic violence-related offenses seriously and remains committed to enforcing court orders designed to protect victims.

This arrest highlights the importance of proactive police work. A routine traffic stop for a traffic violation led to the identification of a subject violating a court-issued protection order. Vigilant enforcement and thorough investigation are critical tools in preventing further victimization and ensuring offender accountability.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. Victims are encouraged to contact Hope Crisis Center at 1-877-388-HOPE (4673) for confidential assistance, advocacy, and support services. No one should feel alone, and resources are available to help ensure safety and provide guidance.
