Revelle Welcomes Three Nebraska Natives

The Nebraska softball team signed three student-athletes to its 2025 class, head coach Rhonda Revelle announced Wednesday. The group consists of three in-state players, all of whom hail from Gretna High School and won the Class A State title this year. The last time NU had a signing class with all in-state athletes was 1987, when Jill Rishel (North Platte, Neb.) was the lone recruit in the class.

 

“Signing day is always exciting, but this year is uniquely special in that all three signees are homegrown Huskers and teammates from the same high school (Gretna High) and club ball organization (Nebraska Gold),” Head Coach Rhonda Revelle said. “Fresh off a high school state championship, with a flawless 38-0 record, Alexis Jensen, Skarlett Jones and Carlie Muhlbach were all impact players for the Gretna Dragons. The team finished as both state champions, and as the number No. 1 ranked team in the nation in the summer/fall High School Top 25 NFCA Coaches Poll. They are all high-character, talented athletes who are winners. Today, it is a great day to be a Husker.”

 

Alexis Jensen (Gretna - Nebraska Gold)

Alexis Jensen starred for Gretna High School as a pitcher and mainstay in the Dragons’ batting lineup. She was the 2024 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior and a large part of Gretna’s 2024 state title as a senior.

 

Jensen was a member of the Nebraska All-State team in 2023 and 2024, along with being named a three-time Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska selection and two-time captain. Jensen joins Peaches James, Molly Hill, Ashley Hagemann and Jordy Bahl as the fifth Husker to be a two-time All-Nebraska captain. Over the course of her career, Jensen was part of Gretna’s 2024 state championship team and three district title teams.

 

In 2024, Jensen posted an impressive 0.29 ERA and a 20-0 record, while striking out 234 batters and allowing only 10 walks. As a hitter, she owned a batting average of .549 and notched 10 home runs and 47 RBIs. 

 

Jensen holds four program records at Gretna, with a career batting average of .445, 83 career wins, 959 strikeouts and a 1.30 ERA. She has also amassed 28 home runs and 124 RBIs during her time with the Dragons.

 

Jensen on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because it felt like an amazing place to play and be at.”

 

Revelle on Jensen: “Alexis is a fierce competitor who is equally talented on both sides of the ball – a powerful and explosive athlete who will help us win games with her bat and from the pitcher’s circle. She will give her all to help her team and teammates have success. Husker Nation, it is going to be fun to watch 99 put on the jersey and compete for the Red Team.”

 

Carlie Muhlbach (Gretna - Nebraska Gold)

Carlie Muhlbach was a powerhouse hitter for the Dragons, owning a .459 batting average over her two seasons at Gretna, along with 97 RBIs and a school-record 32 home runs. In 2024, Muhlbach broke Gretna’s single-season home run (21) and RBI (61) school records, both of which were previously held by former Husker two-time All-American Billie Andrews. 

 

Muhlbach was part of the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska and All-State teams in 2024. As a catcher, she only allowed one stolen base in 87 innings. 

 

Muhlbach will enroll at NU in January, but plans to redshirt the 2025 season. 

 

Muhlbach on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because it’s a place where I am comfortable and it feels like home. The coaches are amazing and the facilities are incredible. Being a part of this team has always been a dream of mine.”

 

Revelle on Muhlbach: “Carlie is a strong and powerful athlete who has taken her training to the next level over the past 18 months. Her improvement in that time has been remarkable to track. She is the epitome of being dedicated to excellence. It is exciting to know that she had a lifelong dream of being a Husker, to now being a young woman who has diligently trained to help the Red Team win.”

 

Skarlett Jones (Gretna - Nebraska Gold)

A three-year starting shortstop for Gretna, Skarlett Jones was part of three district title teams, along with the Dragons’ 2024 state championship squad. Jones was named to the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska and All-State teams in both 2023 and 2024.

 

In 2024, Jones had a .472 batting average and a .562 on base percentage. She amassed 42 hits and 45 runs and had zero errors. Over the course of her career, Jones totaled 117 hits on a .409 batting average and a .502 on base percentage.

She is driven, competitive and motivated to help the Huskers win. Skarlett is a versatile athlete who runs well, hits from the left side and can play several positions, which makes her a valuable addition to the Red Team.”
