Ribbon Cutting Held for US 30 Project

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), in partnership with the City of Grand Island, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the U.S. Highway 30 (US-30) Grand Island West project.

The $47.8 million project, which began construction in April 2024, expands US-30 to a four-lane expressway west of Grand Island. The improvement enhances traffic safety, reduces congestion and increases mobility for residents, commuters and freight traffic traveling through the region. The newly constructed expressway is scheduled to open to traffic on Wednesday, November 5.

As part of the project, North Road and Stolley Park Road were realigned to intersect the new US-30 perpendicularly, improving connectivity and traffic flow. The project was made possible through funding from the Build Nebraska Act and the Transportation Infrastructure Bank, in collaboration with the City of Grand Island.

The press conference included

  *   Roger Steele, Mayor, City of Grand Island
  *    Todd Allen from Werner Construction Co.
  *   Greg Cabalka, Vice President, Kirkham Michael
  *    District 35 State Senator Dan Quick
  *    Vicki Kramer, Director, Nebraska Department of Transportation
