Sodbusters Close Home Schedule on High Note

Hastings Sodbusters2

The Hastings Sodbusters broke open a pitchers duel for a 10-0 8-inning win over the Nebraska Prospects on Friday.

Marcus Miller and Gage Vondra battled to a 2-0 game through five. The Sodbusters exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to break it open. Miller worked seven innings, allowing no runs on seven hits. Josh Nolte completed the shutout.

Offensively Max Israel went 3-4, tripled, knocked in three and scored three. Weston Johnston was 3-5 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Johnston leads the team in most offensive categories.

It was the final home game of the regular season for the Sodbusters who can qualify for the playoffs with a pair of wins at Oahe.

If that happens, Hastings would host the first two games of the championship series against Spearfish Tuesday at Wednesday.
