State Fair’s Older Nebraskans Day filled with celebration and connection

Nebraska State Fair

The Nebraska State Fair invites guests of all ages to Older Nebraskans Day on Monday, August 25, for a full day of fun, wellness, and community, highlighted by a nostalgic concert by The Righteous Brothers at 2 p.m. inside the Heartland Events Center.

This annual tradition draws thousands upon thousands of guests from across the state and celebrates the contributions, stories, and spirit of Nebraska’s older adults.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with the Wellness Festival, featuring over 30 health and lifestyle vendors offering free information, helpful resources, and giveaways.

Guests can also enjoy a diverse variety of events throughout the day, including:

The Righteous Brothers concert, featuring the timeless hits from this legendary duo.
Live Food Judging, as fairgoers’ smoothies and homemade fudge judged on stage.
Cooking Demonstrations, including how to safely prepare meals during power outages at Raising Nebraska.

Backyard Farmer Live Taping, as fairgoers can once again be part of a live audience for this beloved gardening program.

“This day is one of the Fair’s most beloved traditions,” said Courtney Glock, marketing director for the Nebraska State Fair. “It’s a chance to honor older Nebraskans with meaningful programming, entertainment, and an opportunity to connect with others from across the state.”

While the day is designed with older guests in mind, everyone is welcome. From live tapings to cooking demos, the schedule is packed with enriching activities for all generations.

The 2025 Nebraska State Fair offers all fairgoers the chance to Showcase Your Fair Face, August 22 through September 1 at Fonner Park in Grand Island. The fair has drawn more than 4 million visitors to its home in Grand Island since 2010. More information about agricultural events and competitions, carnival entertainment, and other musical performances is available at www.StateFair.org.
