Stuhr Museum's "Then & Now" Exhibit to be Featured at GIPL

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library is honored to host Then & Now: The Flavors of Grand Island, which is a new exhibit developed by the Stuhr Museum that will be on display for the entire month of August.
This exhibit highlights how Grand Island’s past continues to shape its present. Through side-by-side photographs, visitors will see historic images of local buildings paired with views of the immigrant-owned restaurants that now occupy those same spaces. These businesses are more than places to enjoy a meal—they are reflections of the families, cultures, and communities that are adding vibrant new chapters to Grand Island’s ongoing story.
What makes Then & Now especially powerful is the collaboration at its heart. Stuhr Museum staff personally connected with each featured restaurant owner, inviting them to share their story and be represented in the exhibit. That personal participation ensures that the exhibit is rooted in authentic voices and respectful storytelling.
Then & Now: The Flavors of Grand Island is free and open to the public during regular library hours throughout the month of August. To learn more, you can visit www.gilibrary.org. You can also contact Reference & Collection Services Librarian Shaun Klee at [email protected].
