The Ultimate Comeback! Vikings Are State Champs!

(Lincoln, NE)- The Northwest softball team would have the ultimate comeback in the Class B state title game on Monday to defeat the Beatrice Lady O by a final score of 4-3. 

Northwest would trail 2-0 into the bottom of the the third inning as Abby Dinkelman would get the Vikings on the board with a solo home run to right field giving Beatrice a 2-1 lead. 

Beatrice would answer with a run in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 advange. Becca Dinkelman would bring in a run to cut the Lady O lead to 3-2. After a scoreless sixth the Lady O would come up empty in the top of the seventh giving Northwest a chance to win the game needing two runs. 

Lauren Jones would reach on an single. Jolie O'Hara would lay down a bunt on the third base side that would then be miss played by Beatrice to put runners at second and first with no outs. Abby Dinkelman would then come up with an RBI single brining in Lauren Jones to tie the game at 3-3. Jolie O'Hara would advance to third and Abby Dinkelman would go to second base. That then brough Libby Loman to the plate. On the first pitch to Loman she would fly out to the left fielder. What looked like it was going to be a fly out the ball was miss played and dropped alowing Jolie O'Hara to score from third base giving the Vikings the 2025 state championship win. 

Northwest finished the year with a 28 game winning streak and a 30-2 record. The only losses on the season were to Omaha Skutt (Aug. 23rd) and St Cecilia (Aug. 26th).
