Troopers Apprehend GI Minor After Pursuit, Search West of Lincoln

June 6, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol, with assistance from the Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, have apprehended a minor after a pursuit and search west of Lincoln overnight.
At approximately 2:35 a.m. today, a trooper saw a Toyota Rav4 speeding with no license plates on West O Street in Lincoln. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated and fled westbound. The trooper initiated a pursuit.
After approximately five minutes, near NW 98th street, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the ditch. The driver then fled on foot northbound into a wooded area. Lincoln police officers and Lancaster County deputies responded to assist in searching for the suspect.
After searching for approximately three hours, a trooper located the suspect and took him into custody without further incident. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Grand Island, was lodged in Lancaster County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, no operator’s license, leaving the scene of a crash, and numerous traffic violations.
